Information about TILPP for Other Bars

We welcome your interest in the State Bar of Georgia Transition Into Law Practice Program ("Program"), which is essentially an educational program that combines a Mentoring component with a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) component. You will find links below to hundreds of pages of material representative of the 10-year development of this Program.

We suggest that, after reading this introduction, you first click on:

  1. the link to review the two-page Program Timeline for a brief overview of the Program implementation; and,
  2. the link for Report on the Transition Into Law Practice Program dated Jan. 16, 2008.

The core of the Program is to match beginning lawyers, after admission to the Bar, with a mentor during their first year of practice. The program is essentially an educational program that combines a Mentoring component with a Continuing Legal Education component that lays the groundwork for and supports the Mentoring component.

The purpose of the Program is to afford every beginning lawyer newly admitted to the State Bar of Georgia with meaningful access to an experienced lawyer equipped to teach the practical skills, seasoned judgment and sensitivity to ethical and professionalism values necessary to practice law in a highly competent manner.

The Program was developed by, and is operated under the auspices of, the Standards of the Profession Committee of the Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency (CCLC).

*NOTE: The Executive Summary has been included for your reference, but some of the Program policies have been subsequently revised. For the most current program information and procedures, go back to the opening screen and view all information links for Law Students, Beginning Lawyers and Mentors.
